In the long ago time of the late 1900s and early 2000s, there were Colleges in Calafia,  one such College named for Saint Artemas. Though the Colleges in Calafia are gone, the Artemas traditions are remembered. Please join the Barony of Calafia as we celebrate the traditions of Leif Artemas Erickson, combining both beloved Leif and Artemas traditions.

Join us for bead-stringing for festoons, ice floes, Viking games and Artemas games. Wear your Artemas green and yellow garb.

LUNCH: Build it yourself sandwich bar, with a couple sides and a beverage. $6 a head, payable at gate. Wrangled by Lady Dagmar gjallandi and The Honorable Lady Mattea Morelli. 

And for those that wear Artemas colors green and/or gold, we'll be taking a group picture by the Artemas pavilion, which is also green and yellow. Let's fill a whole photo!

THEME: Our Place in Time!
Come join the Barony of the Angels to celebrate our places in time! We invite everyone
to show off tokens, symbols, garb, and accoutrements iconic for your persona’s place in
history.
We will have a variety of contests for champions. The martial lists for double-
elimination Armored, Rapier, and Cut & Thrust combat will be three counted blows, one of which must be a killing blow, combos count. There will be a Youth champion if there is sufficient participation. There will also be a display of Harnischfechten armored combat, which is purely a delight to watch.
There will be an Arts & Sciences display and a competition to determine the baronial Arts & Sciences champion. You’re encouraged to show the art you create to make your persona’s space in time feel more authentic, especially while using needed modern world items. Do you use a certain type of cover for your chair or water dispenser? How do you disguise your cooler, your camera, your water bottle, your phone? What heraldry do you use and what flags do you fly to create historical ambience? Let your persona fall back in time! Mistress Adelheit Schwarzenkatze, OL, will lead a team of laurels and other artisans who will be available in the display area to provide feedback for those seeking to discuss their art.
The barony will also have its traditional cooking competition, the Hester Spoon! Last
year’s winner, THL Rayhana bint Estafanos al-Abbas, will be running the competition.
This year’s ingredient is Cardamom, and all entries must use it in their recipe. There are
two categories, Period and Non-period. Enter one or both but all entries must include an
ingredients list.

There is street parking only. Please do not block any driveways. 

The site is mostly level with new sidewalks and renovated accessible restrooms.

Descend with us on a glorious day of battle where your skill and survival will be tested. Pierce your way through the circles of competition to become the Kingdom Rapier Champion.

COMBAT SCENARIOS: This year's Kingdom Rapier Championship will bring Dante’s Inferno to Lyondemere’s rapier field. Fighters will be entered into a round robin: The first round will be single sword, second round sword and buckler, third round sword and baton, fourth round sword and dagger, and fifth round Case. If more rounds are needed, we will start over with single sword, etc. The top two winners of the round robin will enter the semi-finals. The semi-finalists may choose whichever fighting style suits them best, as they have already survived the Inferno.

Cut & Thrust will also be a round robin (not following the Inferno rules).

SITE INFORMATION: Parking will be available onsite. Pavilions and day shades are welcome and may be staked to the ground as necessary. You may drive on the grass to unload: however please take care not to get your vehicle stuck in the grass.

DIRECTIONS: Take your favorite route to the 405 in Torrance (south of 405/105 and north of 405/110).

From the north, exit CA-107S Hawthorne Blvd (exit 42A). Continue south on Hawthorne for 2.5 miles. Turn right on Del Amo Blvd. In 0.5 miles, turn left on Anza Ave. In 2.2 miles, turn right on Calle Mayor. Continue for 0.3 miles - the school will be on your left. Enter the first driveway and proceed through the gates to the left.

From the south, take exit 39 for Crenshaw Blvd. Turn left onto 182nd St, then in 400 feet turn left onto Crenshaw Blvd and continue for 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Del Amo Blvd and continue for 2 miles, then turn left onto Anza Ave. Continue for 2.2 miles then turn right on Calle Mayor.
Continue for 0.3 miles - the school will be on your left. Enter the first driveway and proceed through the gates to the left.

Their Majesties, King Liam and Queen Fara, invite you to join them as they seek their new heirs. The Shire of Darach welcomes everyone to come enjoy the cool coastal breezes, and witness the kingdom’s combatants as they endeavor to be the next heirs of CAID.
Crown Tourney will be best 2 out of 3 per round. The final round will be 3 of 5 mixed weapons: 1st round – great weapon; 2nd round – sword and buckler; 3rd round – sword and shield; 4th round – single sword; 5th round – fighter’s choice.

The opportunity to submit a letter of intent has begun and will close on September 21 at 11 PM. Only letters submitted through the online form will be accepted.
