Greeting Caid, Allies, Friends, and Foes,
We have traveled here, for hours or days, to meet in a very special place and time. Great Western War is where magic happens, where heroes are forged and epics are spun. For a week we will build our camps and our fires, sing with our friends and revel in the time we have together. Each year, memories that last a lifetime are made on these green lands of Caid.
We, as Royals, are deeply honored to play host to this cavalcade of dreamers and We hope you all emerge on November 10th with at least one story that matches the many, many wonderful moments We have experienced at this war over the past twenty years. We welcome all Our guests, from Our fair Cousins across the Knowne World to the newest newcomer to cross Our threshold.
But we cannot make the magic of war happen on Our own. We need your help to spin this tale. Every year, this War is built by an amazing team of people volunteering for months and months to make this event possible. Please take a moment (or two hours) to lend a hand and allow the crew who made this all possible have some wonderful war moments themselves.
And volunteering is not the only thing you can do to make this war the best war Caid has ever had. Each of you holds in your hands the power of story. Every moment you help someone set up camp, find their way safely home, show chivalry on the field, tell a story, sing a song, try a new craft, duel a nemesis, show a stranger hospitality, cheer on a newcomer… you are helping write the story of this War. You are Caid, you are the SCA, and all of us, playing and working together, makes the medieval magic happen.
