Arr! Avast, ye scurvy dogs, th’ summer’ll soon be thick upon us w’ th’ sun a harsh mistress, blazin’ high n’ fierce ‘cross land n’ sea, lashin’ our hides n’ boilin’ our brains ‘til even the roughest jack among us’ll be scawlin’ like a hungry babe in a wet nappy! Comfort’ll be a fine treasure then, to be sure, for all that it’ll be hard to secure but if ye be interested…?

Thar be tell of a place where th’ shade spreads like honey over grasses as soft as a maidens…fresh baked bread, ‘neath azure skies where th’ air be rich with COOL BREEZES perfumed by th’sea. Tis called th’ Shire o’ Daaarach, a haven for all gentleman n’ ladies o’ fortune to take their leisure w’ GAMES o’ chance n’ amusement, a bit o’ SONG, n’ no small amount of BRAWLIN’ fer yer entertainment. So if ye th’ wind to outrun ol’ Jack Ketch then ruck up yer gear and make fer shore!

Theme: This years theme is “Kraken!” Contests will consider best use of the theme

Our annual contests return so we’ll be lookin’ fer some o’ these:

MOST BODACIOUS PIRATE !!
(includes something representing the theme of Kraken)
BEST EYE PATCH!!

BEST DEATH CRY ON THE BATTLE FIELD!!

Attractions: This year we will have both Heavy Armor Combat scenarios and Rapier Scenarios throughout the day. Two erics will be setup with two fighting coordinators running scenarios.

Look for the “White Elephant” rummage sale fund raiser tent hosted by generous donations of second hand items to the Shire.

There will be a PEOPLE’S ARTS DISPLAY table. Bring a project you have in progress or one you have finished to display with documentation on what it is and when it is from. If you don’t have a project, peruse the displays and vote for your favorites!

Volunteer Pot Luck!

Bring a treat to share (serves about 10) that can survive a bit of midday sun.

We will have a hydration station booth! This will be to support everyone, as well as the fighters. We will have limited water, lemonade, Gatorade, orange & pickles slices as well as some misting bottles and cooling cloths available on site.

EVENT REGISTRATION: Adult Event Registration $15, Adult Member Discount Registration $5, all minors are guests of the Shire. Cash or checks accepted at gate. Please make checks payable to “SCA, Inc./Shire of Darach.”

SITE RESTRICTIONS: This is a dry site. Stakes for all pavilions/day shades may be 8” maximum. Animals must be on a leash and under control of their guardian at all times.

RAPIER ANNOUNCEMENTS: Unlike the last 29 years Eogan has run Rapier at Pirate, this year he has decided to run a standard double elim. Just kidding!!! There will be a tavern brawl, fights with the infamous off hand “Bag O’ Wonders” to determine who is on your crew, duals (bring your RBGs), fight across the flaming pier, audience participation with cannon balls and the flaming hula hoops of doooommmm! Weather is expected to be in the low 80’s with the usual ocean breeze and tons of shade! Come for the fun and melees, melees, melees!

HEAVY ANNOUNCEMENTS: For those looking forward to Pirate tourney next week, here’s a heads up on the armored combat scenarios. Like last year, we are leaving the standard double elim. behind in favor of something more interesting.
