WHAT:

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, A.S. LX, the Shire of Darach invites the populace of Caid and all the Known World to celebrate the final court of Their Royal Majesties, Valentine and Brocc, and the ascension of Their Royal Highnesses, Bjorn and Roisin, to the Dolphin Thrones of Caid. Come enjoy the pageantry of the day, as Caid brings its festive splendor to mark the closing of one reign and the beginning of a new reign!  There will be a Royal Feast as a fitting close to the day.

EVENT REGISTRATION: Adult Event Registration: $25. Adult Member Discount Event Registration: $15. Guests under 17 years of age (when accompanied by an adult) are Darachshire’s guests for the day. Cash and checks accepted at gate. Make checks payable to “SCA Inc./Shire of Darach”.

FEAST: The celebration feast will be limited to 70 people. Feast fee will be $25 per person; “Off-board” seating will be available. Reservations will be required; the menu and an online reservation form will be available in the near future.

DIRTY DOZEN DONATION DERBY: We are pleased to announce that there will be a Dirty Dozen Donation Derby. The derby showcases the work of the Kingdom’s crafts-persons and supports the Crown with beautiful hand-made items with which they, in turn, may gift as largesse to recognize the contributions of their subjects.

Participating in the Dirty Dozen Donation Derby is easy:

  • Create 12 items based on a theme that are suitable for largesse. EXAMPLES: – 12 needle books – 12 hats from different (or the same) period(s) – 12 items suitable for a specific time period – 12 children’s toys — 12 socks would not be suitable as that is only 6 pairs
  • Tag all of the items with the maker’s name, ready to be gifted the day of the competition.
  • The items need not be documentable; this is not an Arts and Sciences competition.
  • The items should not have heraldry on them as they are meant to be given to other areas.

Judging is done by the populace. Each entrant display will have a cup placed next to it and anyone may put a provided token into the accompanying cup to denote their choice. The entrant with the most tokens in their cup at the end of the day chooses one item from any one of the other entries as a prize. Each entrant then chooses from the remaining entries according to how many tokens they received (largest to smallest number). Each entry may only be chosen once as a prize. The remaining 11 items from each entry will be given to Their Highnesses, at the end of the day for use as largess during Their Reign. We look forward to seeing many wonderful creations at Coronation! If you have questions please contact coronation@darach.sca-caid.org.

SITE RESTRICTIONS: This is an absolutely dry site – no alcoholic beverages are permitted. Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on the church grounds (inside, outside, or parking lot).

It’s the night before Coronation. You’re putting the finishing touches in your garb (or checking to make sure it still fits), loading the car… Then you remember, you need to think about what you’re going to eat for lunch because there’s no fast food within walking distance of the site, and you won’t want to drive anywhere and risk giving up your primo parking spot.
Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! Lunch will be available onsite for $7, which you’ve got to admit is less than you’d pay for a MacDonald’s lunch.
So don’t delay and reserve your lunch (and you can pay your site fee while you’re at it) by clicking this link:

It ain’t over til it’s over.
Coronation isn’t over until you’ve sat down with your friends to enjoy a sumptuous feast! And at $25, it’s cheaper than dinner at Applebee’s – which is good because the Applebee’s in Ventura closed. On the other hand, we won’t be serving hot wings.
You can reserve you seat using this link:

Are you on board? Maybe you’re “off-board.” Sometimes you want to continue spending time with your friends, but don’t – for whatever reason – want to eat the prepared feast. Perhaps you want to bring your own picnic basket, or maybe you want to order from the nearby Topper’s Pizza*. We have plenty of free “off-board” seating during the feast at Coronation. **
You can reserve your free spot using the reservation form found here: https://forms.gle/6XpFuyP8evnj6WAc8
*Toppers is Duke Sven approved.
**Off-board seating is free with payment of site fee.

They forgot their feast gear! (Except for their goblets for some reason.) Don’t be like them – if you are eating the feast, please remember your feast gear and avoid the ignominy of paper plates! You make also bring table decorations (please be tasteful) and your own decorative table cloth for a 60″ round table).
If you are eating the ploughman’s lunch, plates and disposable utensils will be provided (or you may use your own).

Please know that the proclamation of the changes to Kingdom Law will be done around 9:30AM, shortly before the beginning of court. Thank you!
