Potrero War 2025

Rapier Combat

Looking to fight with real steel swords? For those who follow the call of rapier fencing and cut and thrust combat, Potrero War has plenty to offer. From the thrill of melees to exciting duels, we have it covered. Please join us for the following activities:

Thursday at Noon: Battlefield Setup

Volunteers are encouraged to arrive Thursday at noon to help set up the rapier battlefield for melees and tourneys.

Thursday Evening at 8PM: RAPIERMANIA IV

For the fourth year in a row, come join us in this early bird torchlight tournament with a pro-wrestling flair. This year’s tournament will be held underneath the open Ramada – who will take home the belt? What surprises might be in store? Will Sancho avoid getting a folding chair cracked over his head? Find out all this and more Thursday evening as the sun sets.

Saturday Afternoon at 3PM: Charity Tournament for California Fire Victims

Fight for a good cause in this open-ended fundraiser tournament. Donate as many times as you would like for extra lives and wagers, and duel other rapier fencers to support those who have lost their homes and their valuables in the California wildfires.

Melee Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – Starting at 10am

In accordance to this war’s viking theme, the rapier field will feature a massive Viking longship for everyone to fight in and around in a variety of melee battles. As the day progresses, fighters will be added to a growing list of drowned Draugr, hungry for revenge against those who have slain them.

Enjoy three full days of themed scenarios and fun surprises – all at the end of a sword. We will even have the full use of spears and rubber band guns (RBGs), so please feel free to bring any and all of your rapier melee toys.

Armor inspection will open up at 9:30am on all three days, with fighting starting promptly at 10am. Fighting will continue until 2pm, apart from Sunday which will end at noon.

Marshalling:

The Marshal of the War would like to encourage anyone who would like to help with our melees to sign up as a marshal. While experience helps, none is required. We do emcourage all warbands and fighting units to provide a marshal to help with the day’s proceedings.
