What is the SCA<\/h1>\n

SCA stands for Society for Creative Anachronism. We are a mediveal recreation group, started in the 1960’s.\u00a0 The group has 10’s of thousands of members worldwide, with a few thousand of those in your Kingdom.\u00a0 The Society is broken up into 23 Kingdoms.\u00a0 We are in the Kingdom of Caid, which is broken up into 15 Baronies and Shires.\u00a0 The group regularly meets, either at a regional level (like practices and local events), or at the Kingdom level for events with hundreds or thousands of people.\u00a0 With events nearly every weekend somewhere in Caid.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s Armored, Rapier<\/strong>, or Youth, Target archery<\/strong>\u00a0combat.\u00a0 Learning to throw knives and axes, or shoot target archery.\u00a0 There are plenty martial forms to learn.<\/p>\n

There are hundreds of people at any given event.\u00a0 Thousands at camping events, called ‘wars’\u00a0 Some have been playing for decades, some are just starting out.\u00a0 Meet new people, dress in garb, or learn a new skill.\u00a0 People are always willing to teach, or help.\u00a0 The SCA is a family friendly group, with youth activies as well.<\/p>\n

Baronies and Shires have weekly local meetups, usually called fighter practices.\u00a0 These are places to get to know local members, even if you are not interested in fighting.\u00a0 They may also have monthly arts and sciences nights as well.<\/p>\n

Your local chatelaine is a Baronial officer, whose job it is to help new members become familiar with the society.\u00a0 They will tend to know people locally and kingdom wide who can help new members find what interests them, whether it be combat, or arts, or just meeting new people.<\/p>\n
