California State Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383), requires the reduction of organic waste disposed of in landfills.

Organic waste is food scraps and food-soiled paper from kitchens and food operations and yard waste such as garden and landscape waste.

This year, the new law will affect Potrero War.

What does this mean for us?

All attendees of Potrero War will need to make an effort to separate food waste from recycling and regular trash.

In Your Camps: Please maintain a separate bin for food waste. A 5 gallon bucket with a lid is recommended to keep odors and pests away.

The trash crew will be equipped to receive food waste on their regular rounds of the site, but if you miss them there will be a number of food waste bins available.

In Merchants: There will be dedicated food waste receptacles near the food vendors.
