~ About the Shire of Darach ~<\/h3>

History<\/span><\/strong>: Darach Shire is a part of the Kingdom of Caid, one of the major \u201ckingdoms\u201d of the SCA. The SCA (or Society for Creative Anachronism) is a non-profit organization dedicated to learning about the medieval time period in our history. We follow research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat, and culture.<\/p>\n

Darach Shire is geographically located in Ventura County, California<\/strong><\/em>, USA.<\/p>\n

The shire hosts up to an average of 1-10 or more meetings, workshops (such as cooking, herbal, textiles, or woodworking), and practices a month, and between 3-5 major events a year.<\/p>\n

Darach Meaning<\/span><\/strong>: \u201cOak\u201d in Scots Gaelic<\/span><\/p>\n

Established<\/span><\/strong>: February 28, 1975<\/p>\n

Darach heraldry is displayed as\u00a0a\u00a0heraldic design that uniquely represents the person or group that owns it. A Device should only be displayed when the owner or group is present. The Darach Shire device is typically displayed on a banner stand or flag pole near any entrances or exits in order to denote that there is an official Shire presence.<\/p>\n

Darach Device Blazon<\/span><\/strong>: Argent, on a bend between an oak tree and in pale an oak leaf fesswise reversed embowed conjoined to an acorn sable, a laurel wreath palewise argent.<\/p>\n

Darach also uses a badge. A badge may be used by the populous to indicate membership in our Shire. The badge can be placed on items, clothing, or cast into a mold to use as a token. A badge can be displayed at any time, even when it is not an official event or there are no Shire Officers present.<\/p>\n
